This is how it goes,
I'm the boy with the poetry power
I'm the boy, smells like flowers
I'm the boy with the bubblegun
I'm a creep
I'm the eggman
I'm the cuckoo that never flew south
I'm the man who loves you
I'm not half what I wish I was
I'm not a pretty girl
I'm not like all the other boys
I am one of those
Melodramatic fools -
Neurotic to the bone
No doubt about it
I am the walrus darlin'
No one ever knows my name
You are the chorus sweet thing
Never sing that song again
But if you sing, sing, sing, sing sing,
Sing me the kind of song you hear in an operetta
Too frumpy for the teenage population of her time
Car coat, she has a quilted jacket with a hood if it rains
A cheap sunset on a television set can upset her
I'm just here to take the air in the rainy shopping malls
Just frozen here on the same old spot
Like a forest
Like a virgin
Like Titanic
Like a complete unknown
Like a rolling stone
Just like heaven
I'm not the boy I used to be
this town has got the youth of me
I've got a sadness
That grows up around me like a weed
I got no plans I ain't going nowhere
Oh, just think of the girl I used to be
You were my age once, mama, twenty-three
What I used to be
Will pass away
And then you'll see
That all I want now
Is happiness
For you and me
So we go all to the shows
And happiness is all we know
How it got to you
And how it got to me too
I wish I never knew
About my blue wave
And who shall I blame for this sweet and heavy trouble?
For every stupid struggle?
I don't know -
Blame it on the black star
Blame it on the falling sky
Blame it on the Pony Express
Blame it on the satellite that beams me home
Blame it on the Tetons. Yeah, I need a scapegoat now.
I don't blame you
And I know you're lonely
For words that I ain't spoken
But tonight we'll be free
All the promises'll be broken
Let me fall into the dream of the astronaut
Where I get lost in space that goes on forever
From a little shell at the bottom of the sea
With the earth and the moon and the sun above
We gotta get out while we're young
All things go
This is an open journal where I post music that I like. To anybody who's interested: feel free to add yourself. Or you could leave a comment and I'll add you, if you don't want your "friends only" entries to appear on my friends page (not that I ever look at the friends page here; for that I have my real lj).
